It’s been a minute since but we’re throwing back to a time from long ago: the Netflix Rewatch! This week we watch the awe-inspiring 1995 hit, Judge Dredd!

There are movies that are universally panned and Judge Dredd is no different; particularly by the comic fans. I’m (Brandon) pretty sure I caught it in the theaters and I don’t remember outright disliking it. I don’t think it was for a few years that I realized that it was a bad movie and that was only after being told WHY it was bad.
Other than the movie itself, I remember renting the video game version of Judge Dredd on the Sega Genesis. I don’t know if I ever beat it, but I feel like the clones at the end of the film were an enemy you had to kill. There was also a mechanic where you’d switch between different types of ammo for your gun which I thought nicely tied in to the movie (and Dredd lore).
Overall, there’s something about this film that I still enjoy. There are several movies that exist like that; ones that we shouldn’t like but are just so tied in to how we once were that we can’t get away from our appreciation for. For some, it might be the crappy DragonBall movie or the Uwe Bolle classic House of the Dead. But for me? How do I plead?
