Ep 64 – Fantasy Fantasy League

Apathetic Enthusiasm Ep 64

Join us this week for a discussion about Game of Thrones! We start off with Brandon’s hosting gig of the first ever Game of Thrones Fantasy League, where six teams vie for control of the Iron Fantasy Throne. After that we discuss the season premiere of the new season and what we expect from some of the characters! When Game of Thrones started up on HBO, I had no interest in hearing or seeing the adventures in Westeros. To be honest, I can’t recall just exactly how I gave in and watched an episode, but Chelsea and I were instantly hooked. It helped that, at the time, I was on 12 hour shifts working from six in the evening to six in the morning, so a Wiki of Fire and Ice was readily and easily digestible for my inquisitive and sleepy state.

Of course, here we are now at the start of a new season, and everything I know about the history of Westeros, all of the fan theories and all the major events are practically done with. I’m now, for the most part, toe to toe with the viewers of the show alone who hadn’t bothered with the books or wiki pages.

I love it.

I love being right there along with my wife, who, before the Red Wedding, was so hopeful that Rob Stark would lead his armies to victory. I love being there with friends who said, “certainly Ned will get out of this pickle!” I love being at the whim of the unknown… for the first time in a long time since the show started, I’m at a point where I can’t reference a wiki page. I’m experiencing something new along with everyone else.

I love it!
